If you’re planning a trip to the “Jersey Shore”, Wildwood should definitely be near the top of your list. It’s a great family friendly safe environment. And unlike most beaches in New Jersey, the beaches of Wildwood are free (no beach badges required). Wildwood (or the Wildwoods) actually consists of the municipalities of Wildwood Crest, Wildwood, and North Wildwood. Wildwood is known for its “Doo Wop” architecture so much of the area looks like you’ve been transported into the 1950s. That means ample neon signs, angled roofs, and plastic palm trees.
For our trips to Wildwood, we prefer staying at the Adventurer Oceanfront Inn in Wildwood Crest, NJ. This hotel is more updated than many of the other more motel-like accommodations in the area. It’s conveniently located in across the street from the beach in Wildwood Crest directly on the border with Wildwood, right where the boardwalk begins.
